Summer Outfit Ideas + How To Style: Crop Tops, Highwaists and Floral Print !

Hi guys ! Welcome to my first ever Outfit Ideas post !! In today's post I'm gonna be showing you guys 5 different outfits on how I wear crop tops, highwaisted bottoms and floral prints for the summertime. These are some of the hottest trends in LA right now, so I thought I would create a look-book on summer outfit ideas to show you guys how I incorporate a little Californian twist in my daily outfits ! ✿

The first trend is the pairing of crop tops with high-waisted skirts. It's been seen everywhere from Tumblr to Brandy Melville campaign photos. I really like wearing this crop top + highwaisted skirt pairing because I think it's very girly and sweet.

Here I paired a floral crop top with a white lacy skirt. The floral and lace combination is perfect because they're both girly elements. And the white in the skirt brings out the white in the floral print. If you look closely, the lace has flowers in it which is why I feel that this top and skirt go very well together.

This time I used a polka dot crop top and paired it with a blue denim skirt. Again doing the crop top + highwaists thing. The reason why this trend is so big on using highwaisted bottoms instead of normal/low slung bottoms is because the crop tops are really short, and throwing on a pair of highwaisted bottoms will cover up the belly area, making it slightly more conservative and more youthful.

In this third look, I paired the same polka dot crop top from the previous outfit with a pair of bright blue shorts. The shorts have flowers embossed on them. And I think this makes a super cute outfit. As the top is of a neutral grey, I felt the pop of blue would make the outfit more "alive" and fun !

AWKWARD HAND ALERT !! By this point I had run out of "model poses" (I'm really bad at this...)

Okay, you know the drill, pairing a crop top with highwaisted shorts (or skirts) are the way to go ! I really like this outfit because the floral and the lace in the shorts complement each other really well giving a very girly look

Next trend up: Graphic tanks with highwaisted shorts. This is a trend that can be worn all year round here in Singapore, but in California outfits like that can be worn only in Spring and Summer, which is why it's so commonly spotted now. Pairing a loud graphic tee with a pair of denim highwaisted shorts gives off a very edgy feel. Throwing on a pair of boots (brown or black) will complete the whole rad and cool look.

I paired the same pair of shorts from the previous outfit with a MISFITS graphic tank. By pairing it with such a loud top, it brings out the black in the shorts. This is very different from the previous outfit, paired with a girly and floral crop top, the lace in the shorts are brought out. But this time, it's the black color that's more outstanding as opposed to the lace.
Other colours of denim shorts would work as well, if you can find a pair that has tons of rugged rippings and studding, that would be even better !

The last trend is all about the floral print. Floral print has came back FULL ON this season, and it's EVERYWHERE. It's even got me turning into a floral fanatic. To be honest, I was a huge fan of floral in the past, but now I think they're the prettiest things ever, so I've been incorporating alot of floral into my wardrobe.

I paired this daisy-printed top with a pair of blue shorts. Same concept as one of the previous outfits (polka dot crop top + blue shorts) I felt that because the top is very monochromatic being all black and white, the bright blue shorts might give it the additioSnal "POP"
The top has daisies on it and the shorts have flowers embossed on, so they're going along with the floral theme. I wanted to be all matchy-matchy.

The accessory that I am wearing is a necklace that has a gold skull with a pink bow, it was a gift from my friend Asyikhin. I've always felt that gold accessories complement bright outfits better than silver accessories, I don't really know the scientific reason behind it, it's just something I've noticed
